Ideal for a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment.

Position Summary

We’re seeking a Senior Supply Chain Operations Specialist—a high-impact, hands-on operations role responsible for managing the full supply chain flow from order entry through final delivery. In this position, you’ll execute customer orders with precision, maintain real-time inventory visibility, coordinate deliveries across truck and rail, and build strong, solutions-focused relationships with suppliers, warehouses, and internal teams. You will proactively identify supply, demand, and logistical challenges, accurately accrue freight and storage charges, and help ensure a seamless, cost-optimized movement of product from origin to customer.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving problems, improving processes, and owning outcomes. As a Senior Supply Chain Operations Specialist, you will take full operational ownership—maintaining clean documentation, ensuring accurate accruals, and making proactive pipeline adjustments based on demand, cost, and capacity. You’ll collaborate daily with suppliers, warehouses, logistics, and sales teams to keep product moving and customers delighted.

Key Responsibilities

Order & Data Accuracy

  • Enter and validate customer orders promptly and accurately, ensuring all required information is captured.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory positions and communicate changes or needs with the sales team in real time.
  • Accurately accrue vendor charges for freight, storage, and other movement-related costs. Develop a strong understanding of product flow from origin to destination.
  • Ensure clean documentation and precise cost entry for all activities influencing margin and delivery performance.

Logistics & Delivery Coordination

  • Coordinate product deliveries to customers and third-party storage locations, ensuring program requirements are met while optimizing freight and margins.
  • Manage, order, and track railcars according to demand and contracted shipping windows; prevent detention/demurrage and adjust railcar plans proactively.
  • Monitor movement across truck and rail to ensure accurate, on-time delivery performance and quick resolution of operational issues.

Inventory & Pipeline Management

  • Monitor assigned product inventory to ensure adequate supply while minimizing cost and carrying risk.
  • Forecast future demand and supply challenges based on historical trends, seasonality, and operational constraints, including factors outside of the company’s control.
  • Keep pipeline reports accurate and current; anticipate shortages, delays, and operational risks before they occur.

Contract & Partner Relationship Management

  • Manage supplier and customer contracts, ensuring execution aligns with plan and communicating deviations or risks to leadership.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, customers, warehouses, and logistics partners, acting as a key liaison for day-to-day operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, accounting, and warehouse teams to ensure alignment and visibility across all aspects of supply chain activity.
  • Support continuous improvement in processes related to order flow, documentation, freight optimization, and operational accuracy.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of supply chain experience, preferably in pet food or human food industries.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess operational data, identify issues, and create collaborative solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in managing inventory, rail/truck logistics, vendor accruals, and service metrics.
  • Experience with MRP systems (e.g., Agtech) strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and maintain productive relationships across stakeholders.
  • Ability to think ahead, anticipate risk, and solve problems in a fast-moving environment.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Accurate and timely order and inventory management
  • Smooth, on-time execution of delivery and rail activities
  • Low detention/demurrage rates and optimized freight spend
  • Strong partner relationships and positive feedback from internal teams
  • Visible improvements in efficiency and cost control across the supply chain
  • Proactive identification and resolution of supply, demand, or logistical roadblocks
